Baraka Signage

Carved and painted meranti marine plywood
Main sign: 24 x 96 inches
Secondary signs: 32 x 48 inches
2017

This project fell somewhat outside of my normal studio practice, but as a long-time fan and patron of the Cambridge restaurant Baraka I was glad to lend my skills to the creation of signage for their new location at 1728 Massachusetts Avenue. Because of Baraka's Tunisian, Moroccan and French roots I sought in the design and typography to reference Islamic architecture and calligraphy as well as the Art Nouveau signs of Paris. This project was in part funded by a City of Cambridge's Storefront Improvement Program.
