This table was made for the workspace of Piaggio Fast Forward in Cambridge, MA, to serve as a gathering place for meals and events. The design I received from PFF specified 4" thick maple butcher block for the top. At 24' long, this would not have been a feasible or prudent use of materials (even at 1.5" thick it was cumbersome and challenging), however, I devised a way to make it appear that the top was 4" of solid butcher block. For me, it was this end grain detail that elevated the project from a mere fabrication job to something more artful.
